Intro


Word. I’m back at this shit and firstly I apologise for not doing a Magazine last week, I had shit to do. But now I’m back and I will have your weekly instalment done each week by Tuesday at the latest. Now, onto business.

First let’s take a quick look at last week’s Championship Battle. I believe that the one dude I said to watch out for was Apotropaic, and now he is the Champion, can I predict shit or what. A good battle in its own right, I thought Apostrophe could’ve come better, maybe now he will learn.
The Contendership Battle was cool, pitting former Tag Team partners Vaskez and DTH against each other. Vaskez brought another dose of hard hitting punchlines and took the win, he is definitely one of the high contenders for the title in this league at the moment.

Other highlights were one, seeing Fraud in the Top 16, because honestly I have never rated him that high, but I’m starting to give him props because he is collecting wins, and not to mention he beat Fux last week which shocked me off my fucking seat.
I also laughed at Spektikul’s battle, he brought another half-ass corny bar and should’ve lost. But then Blaze, if you can’t remember to stick to the rules then you can’t really bitch about being DQ’ed.
We also got to laugh at some wack punches which I will address further into the magazine, and a really funny stretched battle between Status and Menace. Overall, a lot of shit that was amusing to see.

All in all, it was an average week, some real nice battles to see, but still the no-shows are happening and that is gay. It’s one bar people……2 LINES, it ain’t like your scripting an essay or something.

Now I can admit, at first I didn’t understand Apo’s punchline, but that was because I was pronouncing “Pos” wrong. Then when I actually got it right it turned out to be a fucking dope punch. Easily one of, if not the best of the week. I warned people about Apo and said he would be a contender, and I warned Apostrophe to stop dropping below his potential. I guess he didn’t take notice because he dropped below his skill level and got beaten badly. It wasn’t displayed in the voting because it ended 4-1, but really the battle deserved a lot more attention. Congratulations to Apotropaic for taking the title.

Firstly, thank god that there wasn’t another tired “Da Truth” nameplay, I swear if I see another one of those I will vote for the other dude even if he drops ass. Anyway, the battle was cool, evenly matched as it went by the votes with it going back and forth all the way to the end. Eventually Vaskez came away the winner by 1 vote, personally I thought that DTH had the better wordplay in his bar, but it wasn’t down to me to decide, so congrats to Vaskez who will be facing Apo in the Championship Match this week.


5. GreatnesS vs. 6. Mr. Key

A close battle looking at the punches, however in the votes Mr. Key took every one coming away with what looked like an easy KO victory. Both punches were witty, I think that the way people saw it was that Greatness had a more simple punch than Mr. Key, at least that is how I looked at it. Both had a comical element to them, but Mr. Key came less basic so naturally he would take the win.


7. FuxJustAWord vs. 8. Fraud

Wow, to look at the match up in this battle it would seem like a mismatch. Fraud is practically an unknown and not really rated high, and Fux is rated as one of the best and has been for a long time. But then to see the punch that Fux brought was shocking because it really wasn’t that good. And fraud brought a real nice punch which I think Hotshh! described best as…

It really was that kind of a punch, you looked at it and thought “that was dope, why didn’t I ever think of that?” So props to Fraud for coming up with the punch and he is slowly earning respect in this league by my opinion.

Really, Spektikul never ceases to amaze me, he always says he is going to drop half-assed and people think he is joking, but he always does. This time was no different, another half-assed punch. He even told me the concept he was using on MSN and I couldn’t believe he would do it, but he did. So, I got to say props on sticking to your guns. Even though Spek should’ve lost this battle, Blaze couldn’t stick to the rules and found out the hard way that Mimesis does enforce his rules no matter what. Spektikul took the win by having Young Blaze disqualified.


11. Hopesfall vs. 12. KOOL COL-B

Man, Col-B is like a fucking legend. Each week he drops a cheesy ass corny fucked bar, but it always makes me crack up. If I had to pick a winner I would pick Kool just for the humour of his punches. But, voters don’t see it my way as they all voted for Hopesfall. They seemed to frown on the fact that Kool explained his punch, and really it was unnecessary. Hopesfall’s punch wasn’t all that good for me, the concept was ok but the delivery was weak, nevertheless he took the easy win.


13. Crazy Hades vs. 14. Typical

Everyone hates this Typical guy, no one cares what this dude chooses,
if you're in a book of gods, you'd be the definition of what a-noob-is...

The upsets in this league are amazing; here you’ve got a straight up ‘Topical Head’ who is beating everybody he comes up against. Typical seems to be falling off lately and dropping weak punches. Seriously, the attempted personal punch was weak. Even though Crazy Hades forced his wordplay like a son of a bitch he still easily took the win receiving almost all of the votes.


15. Daubs vs. 16. L.I.

This was probably the weakest battle in the Top 16, L.I. came with some half-assed bullshit and Daubs just dropped a no-show bar. You should always count on your opponent showing…NO MATTER WHAT!! And another point to make, Daubs you should drop the 3-line style or at least figure out when you should and shouldn’t use it. That bar you dropped, there was no need for it, maybe you just use it because you think it looks cool. Anyway, L.I. took this battle with a knockout victory, no question.

What the hell, a spin the bottle line against a vegetable line, this battle was mad hot yo!! Seriously, E.C had an ok concept I thought but the fact that he worded it as basic as you like made it weak as fuck. DoContinue came with a vegetable line, that alone is just gay, but still amazingly his bar was actually better than E.C’s so no doubt he took an easy win. For me though, the biggest laugh riot was the amount of people who thought it was a dope battle.


19. PEI vs. 20. 9th Degree

Peep the dopeness, LMFAO!! 9th owned this battle with an original punch on PEI. The wordplay was nice in the bar, although the flow to it could’ve been better. But then, seeing PEI bring that bar into the battle was hilarious, not only was it played to fuck, but it was like the most basic punch I’ve seen in ages. That shit wouldn’t even beat the weaker people, and he brought it against one of the best, he deservingly got the loss.


21. The Revelation vs. 22. Theory

This battle was one-sided like fuck, I think people keep taking Theory too lightly because half these idiots don’t even know who he really is. The Rev came once again with a mediocre punch, not up to the standards he can produce, and again he had to explain a part of it. Theory dropped a fire punch, the best bar last week by far. It was simple but effective with some nice wordplay to go along with it. It wasn’t a surprise to see him pick up every vote and have people comment on how one-sided the battle really was.

Wow, this battle was fucking stupid. Drakel pulled a no-show which was gay, because if he would’ve dropped anything he would have won. Infinite, your punch made absolutely no fucking sense at all, it was like the setup and the punchline were taken from two completely different bars and jammed together. Still, Infinite took the win because of a no-show.

Holy hell, its almost like reading a full on text verse. I saw Status drop his bar and I thought, “what the fuck, how stretched do you wanna be?” Then, you can imagine my reaction after seeing Menace drop his bar, “stretched shit like a motherfucker!!” It was a weak fucking battle to say the least, both dropped wack ass shit, but Status had the better bar so he took the win relatively easy.

A real weak battle, Narc came with a stupid punch, the fact that he half-dissed himself and he self-glorified in his bar seemed to fly completely over the heads of the voters. They all voted for him, the only person for me to actually see the battle for what it was, was The Revelation. Antonio should’ve taken this battle for actually having a punch attacking his opponent. All Narc did was say he was great and better than Antonio, that ain’t dissing nobody at all and it was wack. Nevertheless, voters sided with him and he took an easy win.

Wow, a homo battle……LITERALLY!! Conceptions didn’t drop a direct homo line really, but still his was wacker. Whatever the fuck he was thinking, it wasn’t logical because the punch just flew right away from the setup. Rile1 brought a homo line, albeit a relatively decent flip on a real played concept. Still it was a weak and played bar, yet it was far better than Conceptions drop so as you can guess, Rile1 took every vote and the win.

Man, this was weak. Shazz didn’t even drop a bar which was gay. NK came with some real weak shit, the concept he used was weak and played and he didn’t even put a decent flip on it. Luckily for him, Shazz no-showed and NK took the win.

This was really embarrassing for Mystic I think, the fact that Red Bull totally fed off of Mystic’s bar was gay, but still he had the better bar. Mystic came with a played “red bull gives you wings” nameplay and worded it really weak which made it even wacker. Red Bull half-assed a punch and fed at the same time, and the biting concept is played to fuck, yet he still deservingly won.


37. Flow Intelligent vs. 38. Premanition

Damn yo, this battle was a disappointment. Both Flow Intelligent and Premanition can come dope, but neither did. Prem came with a filler setup line and then tried to use wordplay off Flow’s name and ended by calling him a “HOMO!!” Then Flow came with some weak wordplay with press your lines/reading palms which was weak as fuck. Still though, it was the better bar and out of the 16 votes Flow Intelligent got them all in a massive knockout victory.


39. Tackdaddy vs. 40. Wren-O-Phrase

Lol, as funny as that sounds…it is true. Tackdaddy checked into the battle, Wren didn’t even bother to do that and got DQ’ed. Tackdaddy didn’t do like some and drop a punch for fun anyway, but oh well who cares……don’t wanna waste them I guess. Another no-show win for the week.


41. One Mic vs. 42. Arsen

And, another no-show battle. Arsen became another person to not even bother to check in, that is just GAY!!! One Mic dropped a gay punch, he didn’t even think it was going to be a no-show either, so maybe you just half-assed it. The rhyme scheme was weak, the concept was played to fuck and the overall delivery of the bar was weak to. Up your game for future battles, but congrats on the win.

I get where Common was trying to go with his punch, with the capitalised letters in Marv’s name and user title. The fact is though, the delivery was weak and really Common should’ve tried something different, because without an explanation the punch made no sense. Marv didn’t really bring anything over spectacular, but it was easily enough to beat Common.

And bringing up the rear was a fairly weak battle. Icy-hot came with a real weak bar, forced some weak wordplay in there and overall it just wasn’t that good. Picture brought a fucking homo line for god’s sake and still deserved to get the win, that just shows how weak icy came. It was a dismal battle with neither showing anything worth reading, but picture took the win.

That was amazing, I mean can you believe that in a punchline battle two people could come as stretched as that. Status won, but that’s probably down to having the less stretched bar. I mean damn Menace, that’s like half a fucking verse you got there, this is the PLL. “PUNCHLINE” League, emphasis on the “punchline”……2 lines, maybe 3 if you use that style. Not fucking like 4-5 lines and shit, people don’t wanna see that shit. Shorten your shit down, because that kind of shit ain’t going to win jack shit.

The punch was wack as hell, and it made no fucking sense at all. Even Spektikul agreed and stated so in the thread. I haven’t got a clue what the fuck you were on when you put that shit down, but it is wack as fuck and makes no sense at all. Up your shit, or at least don’t drop anything like that again because no fucker gets it.

For those who have been on RV for a while will no what I am talking about. Fux is highly respected on the site and is seen as one of the best text heads on the whole site, easily in the Top 5. Fraud to me at least, is still an unknown on RV and isn’t considered a “vet” or “dope”. But he has been beating people and last week he managed to upset Fux which to me was amazing. So that alone gets you some time in ‘The Spotlight’. Much props on that win and the dope punch you dropped.

Predictions


Championship Match: 1. Apotropaic (6-0) vs. 2. Vaskez (5-0)
This battle should be dope as fuck. Both have dropped fire in their battles, both are undefeated. This to me is going to be a real close battle if both bring some of their best, but the way Apotropaic has been going lately I can’t see him losing, because his punches for me have been better than what Vaskez has been dropping.

Contendership Match: 3. Mr. Key (5-1) vs. 4. Spektikul (5-1)
A hard battle to call, I know that Spek can come dope and bring real hot punches when he wants. Mr. Key has proven that he can bring heat to, and drops relatively decent all the time. I would say it will be close if Spek tries, but he seems to just drop half-assed shit, so I’m gonna go with Mr. Key.

5. Fraud (4-1) vs. 6. Hopesfall (3-0)
Fraud, well after beating Fux last week he can beat anyone I think. Hopesfall has been impressive dropping some nice punches at times. I’m going to base my prediction on last week and say Fraud will win, all he has to do is bring a punch like the one he delivered last week.

7. Crazy Hades (3-0) vs. 8. Apostrophe (5-1)
If Apostrophe would stop being a lazy ass he would beat most people, he needs to start dropping his dope shit. Even still, he has got the skills and more experience in this battle so I pick him to take the win. Not to count out Hades, he could cause an upset here.

9. Theory (3-1) vs. 10. Infinite1 (3-1)
Infinite1 in the Top 16 is a miracle to me. He has dropped nothing but weak shit and been getting lucky wins by no-shows and shit. Theory drops dope and especially with the fire he dropped last week he has the skills to take this battle with great ease.

11. DoContinue (3-1) vs. 12. 9th Degree (4-2)
This should be a relatively easy battle for 9th Degree, DoContinue can drop nice. He can come with witty punches when he tries, but the fact is that 9th Degree is probably the best text head on RV, along with Mimesis who as we know doesn’t participate in this league. So if he puts a bit of effort into it I can see 9th Degree taking this battle easily.

13. L.I. (4-2) vs. 14. DaTrusHurtz (3-1)
They have similar ways of dropping punches; this is an interesting match up. Both have a laid back style and try to incorporate the wordplay into their punches so it will be interesting to see who wins. Judging from what I’ve seen from them both lately I would give this to DTH.

15. GreatnesS (3-1) vs. 16. Status (2-0)
Yeah, looking at this I’ve got to give it to Status. I haven’t seen GreatnesS bring anything that has been overly dope. Status needs to drop the stretched shit like he produced last week and he will take this battle easily. There is a reason why he has over 70 recorded wins.

17. NaRc-UzI (2-0) vs. 18. ThatNigga (2-0)
Another close match up, both are mediocre as they drop half-assed shit that isn’t completely wack, but it ain’t all that good. Narc does have his spots where he can drop good though, so based on that I will say that he is going to win this battle.

19. FuxJustAWord (4-2) vs. 20. Young Blaze (4-2)
After suffering a shocking loss last week, Fux may be rocked a little. And Blaze may be pissed that he got DQ’ed from his battle last week. Even though Fux is the more experienced and overall better textcee, I am actually going to pick Young Blaze winning this.

21. Rile1 (2-1) vs. 22. New Meth0d (2-1)
Well, Rile1 hasn’t done anything to impress me yet, and New Method just seems to get easy wins. He drops corny ass shit and takes the wins, but from the last PLL I know that New Method can drop fire, so he should take this battle easily.

23. Natural Killa (3-2) vs. 24. KOOL COL-B (2-1)
Against my better judgement, I am going to give this battle to Kool. He always drops them corny ass rhymes and concepts but they never fail to get a kick out of people. His style has worked so far, and Natural for me seems to be slipping. He dropped weak last week and I think he may be getting dried up, so yeah, Kool to win this battle.

25. Typical (3-2) vs. 26. Red Bull (1-0)
Red Bull all the way, he comes dope as fuck when he tries and even comes good when he doesn’t try. Typical just seems to be lacking lately and dropping average or weak bars. He can drop nice, but he is too inconsistent so I can see Red Bull taking this battle.

27. Tackdaddy (1-0) vs. 28. One Mic (1-0)
I don’t know anything about either one, so I will pick one-mic based on what I saw from last week.

29. Kamze (1-0) vs. 30. Flow Intelligent (1-0)
Haven’t really seen anything from Kamze. Flow Intelligent can drop nice when he puts effort into it, so yeah I can see him winning here if he shows.

31. -Cezar- (1-0) vs. 32. Legend (1-1)
I have seen one battle from Legend, and it wasn’t good at all really. So I’ll pick Cezar to win, as long as he tries and doesn’t drop some ass bullshit like he has done before.

33. Macca (1-1) vs. 34. Darth Jizzer (0-0)
Looking at Macca’s past battles out of the PLL he hasn’t really dropped anything that is good. His PLL battles haven’t been much better. Then, looking at Darth Jizzer’s battles from outside PLL he can drop some nice punches, so I’ll pick him to win.

35. N.Tavarez (0-0) vs. 36. Renegade. (0-0)
I think that it is no secret to everyone now who N.Tavarez actually is. So if you know who he is and you know his past experience in PLL, there is only one winner in this battle………and that is Renegade. Jokes!! N.Tavarez will win this with no worries.

37. Point (0-0) vs. 38. Unltd. Rogue (0-0)
I have no idea who they are, so I won’t call this one because I haven’t a clue who will win.

39. Tie-D (0-0) vs. 40. - Menace - (1-1)
Based on Tie-D’s frontline battles and the stretched shit I saw from Menace last week, I’m going to pick Tie-D to win this.

41. Diligence (2-2) vs. 42. MaRVJay1009 (2-2)
Diligence seems to get these no-show wins, but Marv will definitely show and even though I hate his style he should win this battle easy.

43. PEI (2-2) vs. 44. Daubs (3-3)
I would like to firstly point out that if PEI brings anything that resembles the type of rubbish he dropped last week, he won’t win shit. But even if he comes better, Daubs to me is the easy pick for the win here.

45. E.C (3-3) vs. 46. The Revelation (3-3)
A close matchup here, The Rev needs to drop those gay lines where he tries to be overly clever and witty and ends up having to explain everything. E.C has elevated a lot lately and The Rev seems to be slipping, so I’ll pick E.C to win this battle.

47. Conceptions (1-2) vs. 48. MexicanGuy89 (0-1)
Both dropped equally as wack as each other last week, this is another battle that could go either way.

49. Mystic Chaos (0-1) vs. 50. Premanition (0-1)
Mystic is really a topical head, and he is still finding his footing in the text arena. Premanition is an old school head who has been texting for a while. I can see him taking this battle with no problems at all.

51. Kon.Tay.Juz (1-2) vs. 52. Os1ris (2-4)
Both no-showed last week, both tend to drop some half-assed shit. I’ll give it to Os1ris because frankly, I can see Kon no-showing again. Even if he does show he probably won’t even try.

53. Common (1-4) vs. 54. Ryda (0-2) vs. 55. Icy-hot (0-3)
What amazes me is that Common can drop nice, yet he seems to be stuck at the bottom of the league losing all the time. Still though, I’ve seen what everyone else is producing and he should win this, if not him Icy-hot will take the win. But, Ryda will find himself in last, I’m sure of it.

Well, I’m firstly going to comment on the no-shows.
Come on people, it don’t take longer than five minutes maximum to drop a punchline, so why no-show. We need to squash the no-showing and try and make it so that every battle is a contest. Also, people need to stop half-assing their shit because it is just pointless to battle if you ain’t going to try.

The voting is getting better, more people are voting but I am still seeing them gay votes where you just put a person’s name and don’t even say shit about why you thought they won. One line won’t kill you will it, so if you can just drop at least one line to explain why you think a person won.

We also still need to get more people signing up so that this league can just continue to grow and grow. Plus, the fact that no-shows are still happening means that some will be getting removed from the league, so we need others to take their places so the league doesn’t downsize.

If we keep at it, this league will be blinding..
