The bigger the vocab...the better???

IP: 6387 1717

I was just wondering what everybodys opinion was on this issue. It appears that nowadays more people are feelin the bigger vocabulary today. What are your opinions on this...

Personally, I feel that it does not matter what kind of words you use...but it depends on how well you deliver your words. The complexity of your piece should not make it any better or any worse...than sumthin else. Take a look a Notorious B.I.G...not the biggest vocab but he can deliver an amazin track.

think about it.....

vocab IMO add's depth, complexity and a certain mystic to the piece. It doesn't say "i'm more educated than you"....

"Take a look a Notorious B.I.G...not the biggest vocab but he can deliver an amazin track." - times have changed, it's true that vocab doesn't usually matter, it's the meaning, words and how you use them thats important...but listen to a B.I.G track and then listen to Immortal Technique - you'll see what is expected of rappers now and how much the content has changed,

Thats Not Really True..Cuz Eminem Has A Pretty Big Vocabulary But Is Still Horrible..Canibus Has A Big Vocabulary But Then Again Has Other Things To Perfect Around It..Same As Rakim..So I Don't Think That The Bigger The Vocab The Better.

I don't agree. Vocabulary is essential to impress the intelligent audience; however, it will never be effective without stellar word choice. The only way to teach yourself word choice is to read, read & read. Anything that interests you, for that matter - you will subconsciously pick up almost subliminal types of trends & combinations of words. At least, that's how it worked for me . Good luck!
