here is my verse

People warned me about the Army but when I joined I knew the score
I mean I’m only eighteen years old, I thought that I’d never see a war
Everyday I would think to myself, what if I fail and then get kicked out
I was in-training for a month, and then the whole regiment got shipped out
Shock was my original reaction, but after I felt a little bit of satisfaction
Flying to war in a chopper and I’m thinking ‘I can’t wait for some action’
Upon touch down we came under heavy fire and we lost a lot of good men
I hadn’t even fired my weapon yet and I’m wishing I was back home again
I made a darting run shooting enemies down before diving into the dirt
A third of my unit already dead and another third of them severely hurt
Now I’m crouched in the trench with messed up hearing and blurry vision
A grenade just exploded right by me……it could have ended my mission
I’ve got enemies closing in on the right but I’ve got all of them in sight
A simple squeeze of my trigger and I watch bullets rip through the night
The return fire flies by my head, I thank heavens that I wasn’t shot
But then I turn to see my Commander lying there dead on the spot
All the men around me are losing morale so it’s time to take control
Most of the enemy is in front of us so I sent out a five-man flanking patrol
We may be totally outnumbered but this heated battle has only just begun
And I guarantee I will keep on fighting until I die or until this battle is won.
