Voting/Feedback issue

IP: 4DE7 F707

The lack of voting and inactivity of Open Mic forum is a quite important issue because the main reason we're here is to battle and drop our lyrics, right? I do realize there have been several threads concerning this matter already but it's time to gather all your thoughts and ideas in one thread.

Personally, I vote and give feedback on a regular base. I always ask people to return the favor even though I know half of them won't do it because they don't feel like it or feel "too good" to drop feedback or vote. This doesn't strictly go for newbs because a lot of vets do the exact same thing so it's idiotic to blame the amount of new members for the state of the site.

Here are a few examples...I'm not calling names because I know a lot of people think the exact same thing

Quote:
I feed on what ever I feel like feeding on. I don't "return favors" since leaving feed isn't a "favor" IMO. That's why I don't hit anyone back to leave me feed if I left feed for them. If they give a shit, they'll do it on their own, if they don't, then they won't. They don't owe me jack shit and I sure as hell don't owe them jack shit, so it comes down to principal. That's what "honor" is about. Maybe you've heard of it.

^I understand where this person is coming from, I see his point of view but what if everyone thinks about it the same way? Then only the vets or "respected" heads would get votes or feedback since many don't feel like looking at pieces from newbies.

Quote:
Fukka voting on peoples battles. I vote if someone asks me too, but only if they leave feedback on OM. If you ain't leavin' feedback I ain't votin' or leavin' feed. It's not that I'm too good it's that I don't get my feedback neither.

^What if everony else would share your opinion? That's what's wrong in fact...people wait until someone gives feedback and return the favor then but we can wait for a hella long time if everyone does the same thing!

There's a simple solution in fact: everyone should just start voting and give feedback. If someone takes the time to look at your battle or open mic, you should do the exact same thing for them. But I guess this will just remain a dream if not everyone is going to respect this.

Well one reason I never really voted and ish was because all the people I didn't vote for would become babies and cry. Even if I specialize in the type of battle, and a respected head I get called a DR and said I don't know anything about that topic. Wouldn't mention any names though.

I am starting to vote more and leave feedback, I just finished the graphic battles, so expect some feedback in Poetic Scriptures and Open Mic. I still don't like voting. I give honest votes if asked, but mostly I stay away from voting. If people change, then I will start voting more often. But until then, I only give feedback. The graphic heads aren't whining little bitches, they take their vote and get over it. So, in my sense, I think graphic heads have more honor and respect then normal battlers.

^Another thing I forgot to add, the tons of votes getting disqualified when in my opinion, they were fully explained. If you suspect D/R, fine but there's no reason to get every vote against you or with an explination you don't agree with disqualified. You have a valid point there indeed.

I voted on graphical battles before even though I have never made a sig in my life and they didn't mind at all because I explained everything quite well. But with the other battles, there's always someone bitching about certain votes and I understand in a way because everyone likes to win. I see how this can keep you from voting any longer and such and it's totally understandable.

Thanks, and what's funny is that some of the kids who complain about RV and their battles not closing are the ones who DQ the votes not for them. What is really sad, though, is that a lot of times in close battles they can DQ certain votes, then get DR to come in, and win the battle. Had it done quite a few times.

Oh, and one thing. I wish we had a mod for Front Lines, Bitch Slapped, and all of that. I know we would be copying RB, but it would be nice to see battles from way back in June closed, or deleted. We need to get rid of all guest battles, all battles with more than 3 votes for one person, and all battles on the old voting system.

yea those were bad reasons of noting voting or giving feedback...yea i started voting more now that i have over 100 post...one problem is a lot of the battles peeps try to put high post counts in order to vote...one day i tried to vote and i was like wtf 300, 400 post i cant even vote but now that i reached 100+ theres a few more battles i can vote on...good shit queen...tru that problemn can be fixed with a couple of mods in the forum...1 really active mod is good but whats wrong with a couple active mods it can only make it better...can split the work up yamean...

^^True, I'm no angel but I have never in my life gotten a vote against me disqualified. I would only do it if it was really clear it was D/R or absolutely not explained. Quite hypocritical indeed but it means another win on their oh so important record...understandable but quite childish if you ask me...

As far as that post limit in order for people to vote, I understand but some put it extremly high. When that's the case, it's normal the battle stays open for a long time.

There was this one battle, I think it was Parrallel against Personify (or Px or Architect whatever ) which I absolutely loved reading but unfortunately, I didn't have enough posts to vote. So I just dropped a fully explained feedback, I know they probly didn't care about it but I for one would've appreciated that if someone did same in one of my battles.

The post thing is just a protection against possible newbies who are easy manipulated to d/r or give unexplained votes but some put it too high in my opinion.

Well I have been having to put up with it since July, and I voted on about 5 battles a day, and after a month I checked all my posts and guess how many were DQed? Over half. I said forget this and "retired" from voting.

Never had one of my votes DQ'ed in fact but I understand you're not really into voting anymore then. Thing is if everyone thinks the same thing, no one will vote and what then? I feel you on this one though and I think people should be bit more flexible when it comes to the votes and just accept them unless it's obvious you're dealing with D/R or such.

tru yea protection against newb's but queen it seems like you know how these rapboards work and we all know that the main cats who ask for dickride votes and all that are the vets...most of the time its a vet asking another vet...because they known each other for awhile they coo so they do it...the best votes usually come from cats thats been around other boards for awhile then come to a new board...they already on a vet status and keep shit real and since they new they have no friends on the board so usually their votes are more honest

Topical battlers are usually better then text battlers too. However, there are some kids who will argue every verse. Copywrite is one. Final is cool though, he will take any votes, RTF, and move on. So if text battlers will stop complaining then I will vote a lot more.

^^ I totally agree with you but I'm afraid D/R will never go away because it's quite human to vote for people you're cool with, isn't it?

So it's a sort of protection against honest votes from new cats also, that's what you mean right? And I think it's true for some people indeed because by setting the post limit so high, they know who's able to vote and who's not and contact them.

But D/R is another issue, the lack of voting and feedback is more urgent in my opinion right now. Not that I'm seeing a solution for both coming soon but oh well...
