man its sad seeing the victims of katrina struggling and trying to survive, but until u have met these people in real life, u dont really grasp the gravity of the situation. My school decided to become a shelter and we are housing about 200 survivors at our school, and all the children are being enrolled into classes so they can have somewhat of normalcy in their lives for the next few months. And on Friday when i saw a victim in my first period class, me being corgile me went and started talkin to the kid, kind of attempt to take his mind off the whole situation because it was quite obvious that it was taking its toll on him. But inevitably i ended up asking him what it was like, and the kid told me some of the deepest shit ever, he said that although people knew it was coming no one thought it would be so devestatiing, and that even if people wanted to leave, 99.99% of them couldnt, because in NO, 1 in 6 people doesnt have a car and lives on wellfare. So they were FORCED in a sense to stay. The kid also told me his family hadnt spoken with some relatives in days since the hurricane...

And honestly...how many of you have made donations...said prayers, or anything for the relief, because if any of you were in this you would want someone to be helping you out...so if you havnt done anything then YOU NEED TO...
