Why do some textcee's love vocab so much?

Why is it that when I battle...a lot of times..cats come in 'n say "yea...decent verse..but you ain't got vocab,"...When the fact is...vocab means nothing in a battle.You could use basic words 'n shit...as long as you do wat ur sopposed to do with ur lyrics.Would you go in a real life battle 'n say \/\/\/



^you say this shit in a real life battle...and then the audience will be like "WTF?!?!?".

This is also a problem in OM's as well.Cats are saying nothing...but they fill they shit with big words..so they considered "dope"....and end up getting praise in their feedback.When we're reading/listening to something...we wanna be able enjoy it.How can we enjoy it when we have to keep grabbin a dictionary to understand every line.

^Yea...so I got that from a tutorial on another site.As you can see....the 2nd line is still understandable..as we all know wat the words discharge/pulseless/drool means.And it still sounds waaay better than the 1st one.

So what I'm trying to tell people is...to Shut up about vocab..When voting on battles...don't judge it based on vocab.Judge it on punches 'n flow.
And...
When making a verse...don't try to disguise whackness with big words...it'll just make u look even more pathetic as we all know the reason u doing is becus u have nothing to say.

For once K Trini has a point, a lot of times people rate verses on their vocab. If you use second grade vocab, then ya you need to think of some better words. More descriptive, but don't go and look in a thesaurus for a meaning to every word. Make it sound natural.

A good healthy vocab makes you sound intelligent. Instead of saying that a person changes his mind a lot, use fickle. Means the same thing. But the people who look up every word, just sound like they are trying to be intelligent.
