Has NY fallen off

Has NY fallen off

What's good my dudes? In my previous post I stated that NY has fallen off to a large degree. I just wanted to edit that statement. This is particularly for these haters talkin ish about NY like Blackfist and others. Yes it has fallen off musically where it's not producing as much mcs as it once did back in the 80's and 90s. But it all goes in cycles, NY will be back. Still produces some of the hottest rappers if not the hottest in the culture. Just pick up a mix cd and you'll see or hear what i'm talkn about. And as far as all the elements of hip hop as a whole, NY will never fall off. Still the biggest trend setting city in the culture as far as gear, slang, styles even street sports. For instance, And 1 was innovated by the Rucker ball classics in Harlem. That's what I'm saying. Too many things that started in NY in regards to hip hop that are now repd in other cities. And there are so many rappers from NY who started other business through their musical talent and business sense for urban appreciation. From Russell Simons, Jay Z, P Diddy, 50 cent, Fat Joe, Wu Tang clan, Beastly Boys, Rev Run and now Dip set. You're gonna tell me that rappers from other cities were not inspired by these dudes? You got the dirty south sporting fronts hard!!!! Where did that start? Who put Nelly on to Air force 1s?(he mentioned his discovery on Bobitos "It gotta be the shoes").Some of the hottest and well known DJs come out of NY. Still see some of the best graff work in NYC.

I'll always give it up to the West coast, Midwest, and the Dirty South cause they all came up big and they 're a major force in the game. But whether yall realize it or not, NY's the blue print. I'm open for debate on this so if you disagree with anything I wrote get at me.

Yep I agree with you, NY is the blueprint, and yeah meh it's kinda true we're losing a bit and that's going to the south, but I still see New York as the best. Look at the artist from past to present and also check the underground emcees for e.g. Jae Millz who'll put NY back on the map, SunNY also will do that justice. And yeah NY did set the standards for rappers clothing line etc. but my argument is the music aspect, NY will always be the best - just look at the undergrond circuit and the flood of breakthrough artists itching to get into it, NY knows we're the best now it's just gotta be proved to the world and thats where cats like:

Jae Millz
One Shot
Spot
SunNY
Papoose

^^^^ where they come in, put NY back on the map

I agree with you, and I disagree with you at the same time. You said NY has set the most trends in Hip Hop today? That I would have to debate about. You can't forget about the Westcoast, and not just because this is my home, but because it's well known fact. "Gangsta Rap" started up in, none other than the west. But, I give it to NY, NY does start a lot of trends in Hip Hop music, but as far as slang terminolgy go, that's where you're wrong my good friend. Westcoast started alot in the slang category, and probably the most. "Fa Shizzle, Fa Shizzle, My Nizzle, etc." "...Playboy" calling your coleagues "...pimp" (as referring to homie)...and much much more. And not only that, the Westcoast started "Popping Your Collar", "Brushing Your Shoulder Off"...and then the West Coast took it's fall. I agree, it's all a cycle..but believe it or not, the WestCoast is in the game again. "The Hyphy Movement" is spreading like germs, and believe it or not, alot of states are catching on to it. You may not like it, but it does go hard! Snoop and the DPG are coming back out. Ice Cube is a huge success, The Game is on the market as one of the future Kings of Rap. E-40 is out there doing his thang. So, yes it's going in a cycle...no debate about that, but the Westcoast are taking it back...and, I'd go on record for saying, "The West and the East Coast rock the hardest on the Hip Hop scene" The South are ight, but lyrically, not impressing...and the Mid-West aren't getting too much recognition, but at the same time, every coast has their own feel of music.

I stick with the south man...

Ludacris
Wayne
Scarface
T.I. (Even)

Dont hate on that...but NY is like the only other place i look to for hip hop (besides some mid-west/philly, cats) no offense to anywhere else...NY aint fallen off to me (but i listen to more Jae Millz, SunNY, etc.) mainstream wise..maybe a little but nah man everyone's holding down there part to keep the music up...despite what others say where would hip hop be without each of its branches...i think its great..

But on the real, if you think NY's really fallen off, i got to disagree because i believe they still coming strong and in the next few years i think a few people are gonna bring it back to em (despite that i live in the south)

1

Edit: Matterfact i gotta take some of that back...I fucks with everyone lol.. The west is there to...i think i just look to the Southern/Philly/New York Stuff but i know a few dudes in the west that are holding it down...and the Hyphee movement even though i really dont like some of it...its all good man..
