According to that article, mainstream hip-hop is garbage and is in fact trying to make you stupid.

Please, read it. Of course, if you really are stupid, then you probably can't read it. (I find it humorous that the basis of the article was trying to promote intellectual growth in those that it had said are incapable of such a thing due to a life of Hip-Hop.) Now obviously, a lot of people in this forum alone are far from stupid. But the validity of what the man had written remains true. (Cause there are a lot of people here who are also quite incompetent.)

But if I could change one thing in that article, it would be that commercial Hip-Hop is not trying to target black people. Because it aint targeting black people. Last time I checked, the majority of sales in rap music made up of white teenagers.

I only got half way through, then my brain had some sort of over-load...the words became harder to read, and pronounce, what did they mean i asked my dictionairy, it did not reply.

but i agree that mainstream gangsta rap is mostly stupid peeps like dmx are pretty stupid but not all hip hop, alots way more clever then other types of music, woch other music genra uses language techniques and wordplay to implie things and hidden messages.
a lot of rappers are stupid tho especialy dirty south ones

hmm.......mainstream music designed to keep people stupid. true enough, the media IS controlled, but fortunately some artists still make records with meaning. theres just a whole LOT of musicians in a lot of genres who care more about profits and creating an image than artist integrity.
