As my breath gets shorter, I open my eyes
To my surprise, standing there is my girl at my side
She starts to cry, and I tell her that I'll make it
But she knows I'm not totally sure, I'm trying hard to fake it
She can't take it, the tears are coming faster and faster
If I had stayed with her, I wouldnt be in this disaster
But of course I didn't listen, now I'm payin the price
In this hospital bed's where I'm layin for life
I can still hear the gunshots ring, me and her were in my car
Chillin listenin to Ja Rule sing
She wanted me to come up and spend the night with her
And as much as I wanted to see the morning light with her
I had to tell her no, had class in the morning
Never thought I'd hear those gunshots blast in the morning
2:37 am when I walked her upstairs
2:43 am shots flew through the air
About 3 seconds later, bullets ripped through my body
I can see my girl comin in the apartment building's lobby
She told me to have faith, and believe me, I tried
When the ambulance arrived, she came along for the ride
"Tyler baby, you gon survive....", but I knew it was over
She grabbed my right hand, and put her other hand on my shoulder
My body started gettin colder, I was fading away
And so I said all the things I'd been waiting to say
" you know I love you girl, now and forever
And even if I dont make it, know we're always together
Just keep me in your heart, I'll be livin through you
And nothing can replace the love that I've given to you...."
I couldn't hold back the tears that were runnin down my cheek
I felt weak, it was becoming a struggle to speak
She asked me to stay strong, but I just couldnt stop it
" please do me a favor and reach in my pocket...."
"But Tyler, I really think that we need to pray now
Cause you know God, he does some amazing things....."
Afterwards, she did my favor and her tears came down
Cause what she found was no less then an engagement ring
"I was planning on proposing, but then I got scared
Now I have to do it while the opportunity's there
So if I somehow make it, I want you as my wife
Cause there's no point in even living without you in my life....."
By this time, we'd finally arrived at the ER
I'm layin here dying, but worried bout my sweetheart
But if I was to die, it would be hard
For her to ever love again, just pack up her bags and have to restart
My eyes are closing, my thighs are frozen
They're druggin me up, is this the end of my life? I'm hopin
This is the opposite, I gotta get a chance to finish
My turn at the game of life, cause I plan to win it

She starts to laugh, and I smile cause I'm happy to say
That God allowed us two to be together today......
