Day Dreaming...
Been awhile since i dropped anything so show some love...
Day Dreaming Nightmares Shards of broken dreams splinter the air, As they fall echoing year old surprises, Against the pale darkness of the night, While I trace memories of sun burnt scars. The tallies dulled with my fingertips, As these lonely nights never seem to end. I’ve raised this nightmare against the stagnant air That beats with the faint cries of fallen criminals. Here only the vermin of our fears can live. As they stalk my nightly prays pleading for the daylight. My dream catcher has been devoured, Like the daily breads tossed through the light. Even now the light blinds me to the infinite darkness That I’ve grown so accustomed to. Here the glimpse of a daydream Will remind you of the demons that room with you. It’s best not to dream at all. |

Excellent poem, the concept first of all is nicely thought of...
I love how you use the contradiction between light and dark, for instance"the pale darkness of the night" or "the light blinds me to the infinite darkness". I liked that and I loved the imagery you were putting into this. It was subtle yet full of emotion and pure expression. The vocabulary was right on point as well, it wasn't over the top yet not too basic either. Nice |
